I enjoyed the second book a lot more than the first one...Gaia Stone in the last book escapes the Enclave with her newborn sister and in this book finds herself in another community called Sylum. She goes from oppression in one community to a different type of oppression in the other. Parts of this book made me mad, the way that people were forced to behave (men and women could not touch unless they were married, etc). The characters found the answer to the problems of Sylum quite easily, which I think could have been more well-developed, but was quite interesting anyway.
I'm intrigued how the series will end (and I think I may just read book 1.5 while I wait for the next one to come out).
