This has quickly become my second-favorite book by Jodi Picoult. I'm hearing a lot of mixed reviews about it, but I think it was one of her strongest books of late. Maybe because it relates to me (sort-of), while not really something I've BEEN through, I see both sides. I don't agree with the evangelicals and cringed while reading that side, however I've lived through that in a way - the one-sidedness of some religions, how words can be twisted to suit someone's agenda. I hated the pastor, I detested Max (I think I liked him more as a drunk, to be honest...at least then he was human rather than a brain-washed robot), Reid was a pompous jerk at times. I saw one of the bigger twists near the end coming, though...
I really, really, really loved this book.
